Teacher Externship Manual
developed for the Alameda Unified School District
by Hatchuel Tabernik and Associates. This manual
includes a guide for both Teachers and Employers
that incorporates materials shared by Devi Jameson
of the West Contra Costa Unified School District
STC Office, as well as excerpts from the JFF
Connected Learning Communities (CLC)Toolkit.
The Manual includes introductory materials, application
forms, the CLC materials on “Questions to
ask at the Worksite”, “Diagnosing
Workplace Opportunities” and conducting
a “Learning Audit of the Worksite”,
information on SCANS and a checksheet of organizational
processes that an educator should be exposed to
in the workplace. It also includes information
on Project-Based Learning, developed by Adria
Steinberg of JFF, to assist teachers in creating
projects based on their learning after the shadowing/externship
experience.
