Introduction

Authentic Learning addresses multiple “domains of learning”:

• Discipline -Specific Domain (e.g. content knowledge)
• Technical Domain (e.g. specific career skills)
• Cross-Cutting Functional Domain (e.g. SCANS high performance competencies)
• Life-Long Learning Domain (e.g. self-knowledge and career management)

Each of these domains has its own sets of standards, both for practitioners (teachers, counselors, mentors and others) and for student achievement. Authentic integrated learning experiences allow students to meet multiple standards in simultaneously reinforcing ways and thereby enhance learning and high achievement in all domains.
